From our Cottages, the magnificent scenery of the Dingle Peninsula is on offer and we are a super location for all the adventures and activities that the region provides.
Walking and trekking, mountain and rock climbing; links golf; horse riding; shore and deep sea angling; windsurfing, surfing and kitesurfing; kayaking and canoeing; cycling; whale and dolphin watching; diving and sailing, all are within a short distance from Fionn Trá Cottages!
Being in the Gaeltacht (Gaelic speaking) region, the language and culture of Ireland and the Dingle Peninsula is tangible. The Blasket Islands, Gallarus Oratory, Beehive Huts and Famine Cottages, these are only a flavour of the more than 2,000 archaeological sites on the peninsula.
Walking, Trekking & Mountain Climbing We are surrounded by the most amazing beach strolls, walks, treks and mountain climbs. From Ventry Beach to Inch Beach; Cosáin na Naomh (the old Saints path) to the Dingle Way; and the ascent of Mount Brandon (Ireland’s second highest mountain) to the descent of Mount Eagle to Slea Head. The experiences and vistas are sublime!
Swimming Ventry’s Blue Flag Beach is just a 5 minute walk from our Cottages. This is a beautiful crescent beach with glorious views over Dingle Bay and on to the Iveragh Peninsula.
Horse Riding is available just 3 minutes by car. A variety of treks and experiences are available including the wonderful chance to gallop along Ventry Beach!
Links Golf Dingle Golf Links, Ceann Sibéal, an 18 hole Championship Course is just a 10 minute drive from Fionn Trá Cottages. The famous courses of Kerry – Killarney, Tralee and Ballybunion are within an hour and a half from Ventry.
Shore & Sea Angling Ventry Beach is a “Hot Spot” for shore anglers and you will encounter anglers both night and day during the angling season. Deep Sea Angling is available from Dingle Pier and will allow you to fish in the crystal waters of Dingle Bay and Atlantic Ocean.
Wind and Kite Surfing Ventry Beach is a favourite spot for wind and kitesurfing. With a great bay and crescent beach it is ideal all year round. A variety of Surfing locations are close by – Dun Chaoin, Inch and Brandon Bay are all extremely popular.
Canoeing and Kayaking Available at Dingle Pier for a splendid experience in Dingle Harbour and Dingle Bay. Should you have your own, Ventry Beach is the icing on the cake!
Diving & Snorkelling Dingle Dive Centre offers a wide variety of experiences from PADI Beginner Courses to Master Classes. The abundant marine life and excellent visibility make diving and snorkelling amazing adventures whether snorkelling off Ventry Beach to the cliff dives off the Blasket Islands.
Sailing Dingle Charters offers the opportunity to take a sailing trip out around Dingle Bay and the Blasket Islands. If you are an experienced sailor, charters are available or alternatively, enjoy the local knowledge and chat of the qualified skipper. Dingle Sailing Club at Dingle Marina offers summer sailing courses during June, July and August.
Cycling Hire a bike in Dingle for a few days and explore the Dingle Peninsula with the wind running through your hair! A fantastic way to enjoy the magnificent sights and vistas.
Rainy Days The Dingle Peninsula offers great activities for the indoor days. Dingle Aquarium is a wonder for all ages particularly the children. Visit Dingle’s Climbing Wall for rigorous fun; The Blasket Centre for an amazing insight in to life on the Blasket Island and the Literary feats that were achieved; Museum Chorca Dhuibhne for an introduction to the local history and geology of the region; Dingle World of Leisure for indoor fun for younger children; and of course, shopping in Dingle with its abundance of little galleries and craft shops.
